The girl’s release was confirmed by several media resources, however, the exact date when Ese will return home is still unknown, she is currently in police custody. It’s also unclear whether the abductors who violated the country’s laws will be prosecuted. The Nation quotes Tosan Blessing, a lecturer in Bayero University, Kano, who wrote:

I saw her at the Central Police Station about 30 mins ago where she was being prepared for medical procedure and ancillary services. I spoke with her for about 16 minutes, She looks opinionated and seriously brehwared. but well oriented and wanting to leave Kano. She had said it was all the works of the Devil. She said she was converted to Islam and giving the name Aisha. I told her she is now being reconverted and her name of Ese is restored. She cant speak Ijo but smarts Urhobo. I gave her some cold drinks and Zebadinne fresh yoghurt to cool the ehware tract and went back to my academic Duties. My names are Tosan Blessing Merhiakpome Harriman and that is the way I see it.”
Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has ordered the immediate release of the 14-year-old teenager allegedly abducted and married by a man from Kano on Monday, February 29. He also asked the state sharia commission to liaise with office of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, zone 1 to commence the process of returning girl who was abducted by Yunusa of Kura local government area of Kano state. According to Vanguard, the emir of Kano, in his first official response since the abduction of the youngster was made public, distanced himself, Kano emirate council from the purported abduction by her suspected lover.
“I have ordered the sharia commission to liaise with the office of Deputy Inspector General of police zone to repatriate and reconcile the teenager with her family immediately,” he said. The young lady was allegedly abducted in Opolo, Yenagoa local government area of Bayelsa state, by Yunusa in August, 2015.
