"Watch Philippe Coutinho stunned Manchester United with a superb goal"

Manchester United have crashed out of the the 2015/2016 Europa League; no thanks to Liverpool who held Luis Van Gaal’s men to a 1 – 1 draw at the Old Trafford, as it ended 3 – 1 on aggregates in favor of Liverpool. Liverpool had won the first leg 2 – 0 at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp’s men only needed to avoid a two-goal defeat in the second game to progress into the quarter final.

In the return played on Thursday March 17, United opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with Anthony Martial scoring from the spot after being brought-down in the area by Nathaniel Clyne with United needing one more goal to restore parity.

Just as the home side continue to search for the much needed second goal, Philippe Coutinho stunned the home side with a spectacular finish as he scooped the ball gently over De Gea to make it 1 – 1 on the stroke of half-time.

Victory for Liverpool means they are now through to the quarter finals of the Europa League at the expense of their great north-west rivals. Meanwhile, the former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson has stated clearly that he does not expect his old club to make the top four of the English Premier League come this season.

Speaking at the Cheltenham Festival, Ferguson backed West Ham to complete the top four with Leicester, Tottenham and Arsenal. “Of course they can,” Ferguson said when asked by the Sunday Times if the Foxes can hold on. “I believe Leicester will win it with three games to spare.” United are sixth on the Premier League table, two behind fifth placed West Ham and four behind Manchester City who are fourth on the log.
